Birgit Fischer is a German kayaker who is widely considered as the greatest kayaker of all time.She won eight gold medals over six different Olympic Games which is very unique record.She has a total of 12 olympic awards in which she has 8 gold medal and 4 silver medals.She is both the youngest and oldest kayaking champion in history having finished first on the podium at 18-years-old and 42-years-old.She also voted for German sportswoman of the year in 2004.Fischer is also a photographer and displays works through the Art of the Olympians.

In 2002, he was inducted into the International Gymnastics Hall of Fame.He was awarded the Red Banner of Labor in 1956 and the Order of Lenin in 1960.
